2nd CHARTS International Conference to convene by August

The CHARTS Philippines and Bohol Island State University are inviting scholars, researchers, practitioners, and graduate students to submit their paper proposals for the upcoming international conference. With the theme,

“Malungtarong kalamboan through the lens of culture, history, and religion” is going to take place from August 6 to 8 in Bohol, Philippines.

According to CHARTS Philippines, the confab encourages interdisciplinary dialogue across the humanities and social sciences. The conference aims to offer a platform for innovative and critical research that reframes malungtarong kalamboan, which translates to sustainable development in the Boholano context. The gathering seeks to highlight how cultural traditions, historical trajectories, and religious interpretations intersect with contemporary initiatives toward responsible tourism, sustainability, and community resilience.

In addition, the conference would include a workshop with the Philippine Research Network for Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage (PRNRTP)serving as a knowledge partner to lead discussions on theoretical and empirical perspectives, share research findings and foster interdisciplinary dialogue, PRNRTP consortium members include UP Diliman Asian Center and Asian Institute of Tourism, UP Manila Museum of a History of Ideas and UP Cebu’s College of Communication, Art and Design.

The suggested topics are not limited to tourism and sustainability, eco-criticism and language, government and society, the arts, media, and cultural narratives, as well as colonial and postcolonial legacies in environmental histories. The submission date is between May 19 and 30. The notification of acceptance is on June 9, and the full paper submission is by July 15.
