Baguio Bahay Pag-asa gets National Award

The city’s Bahay Pag-Asa (BPA) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office was adjudged as the national winner of the Search for Good Practice of Bahay Pag-Asa (BPA) Implementation nationwide.

The city bested 23 centers nationwide in the search program conducted by the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC).

OCWSDO head Liza Bulayungan and Bahay Pag-asa center head Florecita Tul-an received the award in ceremonies held last Nov. 28, 2025 during the culminating event of the 14th Juvenile Justice andWelfare Consciousness Week (JJWeek) in Quezon City.

JJWC Executive Director Atty. Tricia Clare Oco, in a letter announcement to Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city was selected by the National Awards Committee (NAC) as one of the awardees for its exemplary implementation of the Bahay Pag-Asa Program. It was later hailed as the national winner.

The city’s reformation center for youths boasts of worthwhile undertakings meant to cultivate the talents of the residents.

There were baking and art sessions and other activities where they can learn livelihood and socialization skills, hone their talents, express themselves, destress and unload their emotional burdens. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
