50 Baguio barangays get 2024 Local Governance Seal
Fifty barangays in the city copped the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) affirming the city’s improving governance standards.
The model barangays were awarded during the Regional Celebration of the 34th Local Government Month held on October 24, 2025, at the Newtown Plaza Hotel with the theme, “Transforming Governance, Empowering Futures.”
The SGLGB is awarded to barangays that have demonstrated outstanding performance in areas of financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, environmental management, and business friendliness and competitiveness.
The Dept. of the Interior and Local Government Baguio Field Office under City Director Millicent Carino said the 50 city barangays were among the 192 barangays in the Cordillera Administrative Region and the 3,283 barangays nationwide that qualified for the SGLGB.
Only 8 percent of the total 41,610 barangays nationwide made the cut, according to the DILG Baguio.
“Notably, 40 percent of Baguio City’s barangays successfully passed the assessment, surpassing the 8 percent national passing rate by 32 percent,” the DILG Baguio emphasized.
