Baguio City updates ‘Vision’: Residents asked to help choose between two options

The City Government is revising its vision in line with the updating of its Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2024-2032 which charts the city’s physical and economic development for the next 8 years and the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) 2023-2028, which contains the city’s development programs in the next five years.
The city made sure that the vision formulation process was done in collaboration with the various sectors and stakeholders.
It began with a Vision Setting Workshop last June 27, 2023 followed by a Sectoral Vision Formulation last August 2, 2023. Said activities resulted in the formulation of six sectoral visions which were approved by the City Development Council (CDC) during its meeting on August 3, 2023.
On August 31, 2023, a City Visioning Workshop was conducted again with the participation of the different sectors resulting in the development of several City vision statements. These vision statements were presented to the CDC on October 20, 2023 which eventually narrowed them down to just two proposed City Visions.
The two options are: Vision 1 – BAGUIO 2043: WHERE CREATIVITY BLOOMS, SMART THRIVES AND LIVABILITY UNITES; and Vision 2 – BAGUIO 2043 – A CREATIVE, INCLUSIVE, AND LIVABLE CITY.
Attendees during the visioning workshop were city officials, punong barangays, and leaders and representatives of the Civil Society Organizations, People’s Council, Private Sector, Regional Line Agencies and the academe.
To expand the people’s participation in the vision selection, the body decided to involve the general public in the selection process through a votation process starting on Nov. 4.
At 12:01 a.m. of November 4, the two finalized visions along with their justifications will be posted at the Public Information Office Facebook page where people can vote by registering their reaction to their preferred vision. Voting will run until 11: 59 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2023. It is important that people register their votes by reacting on the original post instead of the shared posts.
“We invite all Baguio City constituents to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our beloved City. Please take a moment to review these proposed City Vision statements and cast your votes to express your choice,” Mayor Benjamin Magalong said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
