Baguio, DA, farmers group to ink livestock agreement
The city council adopted resolution no. 485, series of 2023, authorizing Mayor Benjamin Magalong, representing the city government of Baguio, to enter into a tripartite memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Bilis Sto. Tomas Central Farmers Livelihood Association for the implementation of the Livestock Economic Enterprise Development (LEED) Project of the DA-National Livestock Program in the Summer Capital.
The project aims to intensify the role and contribution of the livestock and poultry sub-sector by providing livelihood and assistance in enterprise development, the approved measure stated.
It disclosed that a Rabbit Grow-out Multiplier Farm in Sto. Tomas Central, Baguio city, will be established and to be operated and managed by members of the Bilis Sto. Tomas Central Farmers Livelihood Association funded by the said program amounting to P1-million.
The resolution stated that the MOA shall be submitted to the local legislature for confirmation and that City Veterinarian Silardo Bested is directed to submit a report to the august body with a reminder that the project shall be monitored closely for its sustainability. – Gaby B. Keith
