78 Clubfoot patients currently under BGHMC care

Around 4,000 children with clubfoot all over the country is currently being supported by the Clubfoot Program of the Philippine Non-Government Organization Council (PNGOC) on Population, Health and Welfare with 78 patients under the care of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center’s (BGHMC) orthopaedics department.
PNGOC executive director Chi Laigo Vallido, in a letter dated June 12, this year, revealed that the BGHMC clubfoot clinic was nominated again for the Civil Service Pag-Asa award.
The PNGOC is an umbrella organization of NGOs and partner clinics working all over the country and has been implementing various health programs in the Summer Capital for many years, her letter disclosed.
“We are grateful for all the support of Mayor Benjamin Magalong as we continue our activities in the city. Currently, we are working closely with the City Health Office related to the Universal Health Care (UHC) program in partnership with BGHMC and the Mayor’s office for our clubfoot program,” it stated.
Vallido said the chief executive officer (CEO) of MiracleFeet US, which is supporting the treatment of clubfoot in the Philippines, is visiting the country from July 2 to 7 to meet with partners and clinics especially in Baguio City . – Gaby B. Keith
