City okays measure asking funds for IPMR medical assistance program

Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city council resolution no. 245, series of 2023, requesting the Baguio City Local Finance Committee to source out funds for the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of the local legislature in relation to the implementation of medical assistance city-aid program for indigent patients in the Summer Capital in partnership with the Baguio General Hospital and Medication Center (BGHMC).
The approved measure also directed that the same be included in the city government’s 2023 Annual Investment Program.
It disclosed that resolution no. 99, series of 2009, sets policies and guidelines on the use of the financial assistance provided to the BGHMC for indigent patients from Baguio and has authorized the Mayor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement for the said purpose with the BGHMC embodying policies and guidelines.
Through resolution no. 75, series of 2023, Maximo H. Edwin, an Ibaloy, was concurred as Baguio’s IPMR who also, as member of the city council, qualifies to have funds allocation for medical assistance to be given to indigent patients of BGHMC.
The latest approved resolution also ordered the city government to forward the provided appropriation for medical assistance for fiscal year 2023 to the BGHMC. – Gaby B. Keith
