2021 Science and Technology Week in CAR, held

22 September 2021 – The Depart of Science and Technology regional office (DOST-CAR) conducted the 2021 National Science and Technology Week in CAR on September 21 to 24 with the theme, “Agham at Teknolohiya:  Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon.”

In a letter to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Benguet Science and Technology provincial director Sheila Marie Singa-Claver, disclosed that the event is the pre-celebration for  its nationwide celebration in  November.

Activities of the four-day event included launching of the Packaging Innovation Center and Community-level Evaluation and Assessment of Rain-induced Landslide Susceptibility (CLEARS ); press conference and forum on DOST’s initiatives on Packaging Technology Solutions; and a Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) Summit.

Webinars on Risk Communication, Education 4.0 and Transformative Pedagogy in eLearning for S&T Teachers in CAR, and Increased Thinking Skills through Process-oriented Mathematical Tasks were also held.

Also launched were the Complementary Food Production Facility in Ifugao and the Enhanced Nutrition in Baguio city, Apayao, Kalinga and Mountain Province.

A virtual tour of the DOST-CAR Regional Standards and Testing Laboratories  (RSTL) was conducted during the entire four-day activity.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus 2019 pandemic, the celebration was held virtually and physically where strict adherence to minimum public health standards was imposed.  It was also livestreamed over the DOST official facebook page and shared in its PSTC facebook page. – Gaby B. Keith
