Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda is seeking the help of the business establishments in the city to encourage more residents to get vaccinated against the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).In her resolution, Tabanda is requesting the business establishments in the city to offer discounts to clients/customers who are fully vaccinated.

According to Tabanda, many are still apprehensive and reluctant to receive the vaccine due to various reasons despite the information dissemination employed by the Department of Health and the local government units. She said one strategy that may be considered is to make the vaccination appealing by offering perks to fully vaccinated individuals such as discounts granted by business establishments.

The councilor mentioned that there is a need to encourage more Baguio folk to get jabbed as achieving herd immunity will help the economy recover from the pandemic. Once the immunization target is met, she said the government will ease mobility restrictions with the minimum health protocols still strictly observed, thus also enhancing the city’s tourism industry.

In NCR Plus (Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal), 188 food establishments are offering free food, discounts, and promos for vaccinated customers. These food establishments are part of a program called Smart Bakuna Benefits under the Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat campaign and is spearheaded by Taskforce T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), Smart Communications, and RestoPH. The offers are available from June 1 to August 31, 2021. –Jordan G. Habbiling
