With 10M fully vaccinated, NVOC aims to reach 15M in August

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) – (August 6, 2021) –  More than 10 million eligible population in the country are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the national vaccination program targets to reach 15 million by the end of August.

National Vaccination Operations Center Chairperson and Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Myrna Cabotaje, in an online meeting Wednesday,

Cabotaje reported that as of August 4 data, there are 10,282,152 fully vaccinated eligible populations in the country; 22,488,705 doses of Coronavirus disease vaccine doses administered including 206,553 doses given as first doses.

With more vaccines expected to arrive, the national vaccination program aims to reach 15M fully inoculated  Filipinos this August, targeting to maintain 600,000 to 700,000 daily vaccination or around 4M doses administered per week.

The NVOC target is for all health care workers to have their full protection and 5 million jabs must also be administered to senior citizens within this month. Focus must also be given to adults with co-morbidity especially those with high-risk illnesses and under immunodeficiency state, she added.

Cabotaje congratulated all regional VOCs for their hard work as she called for continuing partnership and commitment to have more Filipinos vaccinated especially the health care workers who are in the frontline of caring for patients, as well as the vulnerable groups of senior citizens and adults with comorbidities so that they can have protection amidst the threat of the Delta variant.

For Cordillera, the Regional VOC reported that there are already 418,378 COVID – 19 doses administered.  224,794 eligible population are now fully vaccinated that include 33,265 frontline health workers; 65,873 senior citizens, and 111,229 adults with comorbidities.

RVOC Chairperson and DOH – CAR Regional Director Dr. Ruby Constantino, in her guidance to the provincial and city VOCs in Cordillera, reiterates the need to cover all Priority A1 targets, especially those working in hospitals or health facilities. Moreover,  for local government units and local vaccination implementing teams to work together in coming up with strategies to have more senior citizens inoculated as the region only reached so far 42.42 percent of the 150,619 senior citizens in the vaccination program master list.
