LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte – Twelve employers received a show cause order from the Social Security System (SSS) Laoag Branch for violation of the Republic Act No. 11199 or Social Security Act of 2018.

During the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign, SSS Laoag Branch Head Richard Raralio said these employers failed to remit the SSS contributions of their 72 employees amounting to over half a million pesos, inclusive of penalties.

“Others did not register their businesses with SSS resulting in non-reporting of their employees or, if reported, did not report the exact number of employees, and others failed to produce the required documents like payrolls and collection lists for evaluation of our account officers,” Raralio explained.

He said that delinquent employers were given 15 days upon receipt of the show cause order to explain why no legal action should be taken against them and settle their delinquencies through availing of the Contribution Penalty Condonation Program.

Should these employers fail to respond to SSS’ notice, they will face criminal charges and may be subjected to six to 12-year imprisonment and a fine ranging from P5,000 to P20,000, Raralio added. ### (PR)
