Sokor volunteers in city for cultural exchange program

Nine youth and eight staff members of the Catholic Children and Youth Foundation (CCYF) from Incheon, South Korea are in the Summer Capital, July 9 to 16, as part of the International Youth Cultural Exchange and Volunteer Program with the City Government thru the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

CSWDO head Liza Bulayungan said the committed group of volunteers is led by Rev. Han “John” Haeseong and are involved in a significant initiative aimed at building the future of the city’s children. The CCYF’s current project focuses on the renovation and equipping of the Lower Dagsian Child Development Center, the fifth it has adopted since the program started in 2016, she added.

Bulayungan disclosed that the South Korean group previously focused their efforts with the Child Development Centers of Upper Pinget, Purok 17 in Irisan, Country Club, and Kayang Extension barangays. “In addition to their invaluable contributions, they will engage in various cultural exchange activities which will promote a greater understanding between our communities,” she said.

Bulayungan added: “Their presence exemplifies the essence of global cooperation and the empowerment of youth.”
