Road safety is shared responsibility says BCPO

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Police office (BCPO) said that road safety is a shared responsibility of everyone to ensure that all roads will be safe for the public and the motorists.
BCPO Strategic Management Team head Police Col. Judy Jasmin Palicos said that everyone has a role in ensuring road safety thus the need for people to cooperate in the implementation and crafting of updated road safety regulations for overall safety and security on the roads.
She claimed that police personnel can do us much in terms of the strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations while there are concerned government agencies and local government offices that are responsible in the crafting and implementation of information and education campaigns for public awareness and in the implementation of engineering works to make the roads safe for the use of motorists.
The BCPO official stated there will be a much bigger gathering that will be called for among concerned stakeholders to elicit their inputs leading to the crafting of updated programs, projects and activities that will contribute in significantly reducing vehicular traffic incidents in the city and reduce the possible loss of lives and damage to properties that might be inflicted by this incidents.
She rallied motorists to sustain the practice of defensive driving as their utmost contribution in addressing vehicular traffic incidents while concerned government agencies and local government offices also have their respective duties and responsibilities towards a holistic approach in ensuring road safety in the city.
Earlier, the BCPO convened a multi-stakeholder consultation to gather important inputs from responsible individuals leading to the formulation of a strategic intervention that will contribute in addressing the sudden surge in vehicular traffic incidents in the city and ensure road safety along the city’s roads and streets. – Dexter A.
