Rabbit sinkhole vendors told to secure health certificates

City officials recently requested the vendors at the Philippine Rabin sinkhole area along Lower Magsaysay Avenue to refrain from selling and serving cooked food until they obtain their respective health certificates from the City Health Services Office (CHSO). In the event that they will continue selling or in case they will be issued business permits.

Under Resolution No. 475, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the issuance of health certificates is crucial in verifying that the concerned vendors of cooked food have undergone thorough health inspections and are compliant with the sanitation and health standards set forth by the CHSO.

The council claimed that the absence of health certificates exposes consumers to potential health risks and hazards due to alleged inadequate hygiene and sanitation practices.

Earlier, it has come to the attention of the local legislative body that some vendors at the Philippine Rabbit sinkhole along Lower Magsaysay Avenue are presently in the process of fulfilling the requirements necessary for obtaining business permits.

However, it has been discovered that they are currently engaging in the sale of food without processing valid health certificates as mandated by the CHSO for health and sanitation purposes.

According to the council, the local government remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguard the health and wellbeing of its residents and visitors by strictly implementing health regulations, particularly in the context of food establishments where food handlers are mandated to secure their respective health certificates before they will be allowed to be issued the business permits of their principals. – Dexter A.
