PRO-2 facilitates presentation of accounted firearms

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan– The Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) led by its Director, PBGen. Antonio P Marallag facilitated the presentation of assorted, captured, confiscated, surrendered, deposited, abandoned, and forfeited firearms on Nov. 27 at PRO2 Covered Court, Camp Marcelo P. Adduru here.

PBGen. Marallag said that the presentation is their organization’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the communities, especially in the lead-up to the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

The firearms came from the different police provincial and city offices and municipal stations in Region II. They were accumulated from the intensified Oplan Bakal, Oplan Sita, and NTF ELCAC Campaign. Based on the data, there were a total of 4,400 assorted firearms as of November 24, 2024.

β€œEach firearm displayed here today symbolizes our unwavering efforts to combat criminality, insurgency, and terrorism. As we prepare for the 2025 NLE, these efforts are crucial in maintaining peace and order, ensuring that our electoral process remains free, fair, and secured”, PBGen. Marallag stated.

The activity is a part of the Regional Joint Security Control Center-Region 2 Conference, the official reactivation and initial convening for the May 12, 2025 NLE. It was attended by Atty. Ederlino U. Tabilas, regional election director, COMELEC R02; Commodore Gary Dale C. Gimotea, commander of Coast Guard District North Eastern Luzon; Atty. Victor John Paul H. Ronquillo, regional director, NBI Region 2; Col. Davice Christopher G. Mercado, deputy brigade commander of 502nd Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army; and Plormelinda P. Olet, regional director of National Intelligence Coordinating Agency; PNP provincial directors and COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisors.# Mae Barangan
