Private surveyor arrested for illegal possession of firearms
A private surveyor will be facing charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, after being caught in possession of a homemade firearm in Bangued, Abra on October 9, 2021.
Based on reports submitted to the Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the suspect was identified as Edward Benedick Carayoan Espiritu, 35 and a resident of Tanobong, San Isidro, Abra
Same report disclosed that a concerned citizen reported personally to Bangued MPS and seek for police assistance due to the ongoing commotion happening in Santiago Street, Zone 5 of the said municipality.
Immediately, police officers responded and upon their arrival at the place of the incident, they saw in plain view a firearm tucked on the suspect’s back. Immediately, the police officers arrested him.
During the course of his arrest, confiscated from his possession was one (1) homemade Cal. 22 revolver inserted with four (4) live ammunition and one (1) fired cartridge case for the same caliber.
The suspect was brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medico-legal examination and subsequently to Bangued MPS for documentation and filing of appropriate charges against him. (PROCOR-PIO)
