OWLs, city library hold book drive in public schools

Together with like-minded partners, the city government under Mayor Benjamin Magalong, continues to empower the youth as part of its 7-point core agenda by encouraging the love for reading among young people.
The Outstanding Women Leaders (OWLs) of Baguio, in partnership with the Baguio City Public Library (BCPL) led by City Librarian Easter Wahayna-Pablo, conducted a book drive for various public schools in the Summer Capital on June 19, 2025.
Wahayna-Pablo said that the beneficiary schools were Baguio Country Club Village Elementary School, Happy Hollow Elementary School, and Doña Aurora H. Bueno Elementary School.
The project, headed by OWL President Lumina Peil, aims to promote reading among elementary learners, she added.Wahayna-Pablo was chosen as one of Baguio’s Outstanding Women Leaders during the 2025 Kababaihan Festival on March 8.
Meanwhile, the BCPL continues to conduct a Free English Tutorial Program in collaboration with universities and organizations the latest of which was facilitated by apprentices from the University of the Philippines-Baguio, offering free English lessons to interested participants. – Gaby B.
