Mayor vows to pursue city’s vision, build 7 core agenda in third term

“Now, in this third and final chapter, we move forward with greater purpose. And I vow to you—kung ano ang ipinakita namin noon, iyon pa rin ang ipapakita namin ngayon. Consistency is the key word.”
Thus declared Mayor Benjamin Magalong, re-elected for a third term, in his message during the city’s Oath Taking Ceremony of Elective Officials for the Term 2025 to 2028, June 30, at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.
“Sa bagong kabanata ng ating pamamahala, ipagpapatuloy natin ang ating pangako ng malinis, tapat, at bukas na gobyerno na marunong makinig sa kanyang sinasakupan.. Sisiguraduhin natin na bawat desisyon ay para sa kapakanan ng nakararami, hindi para sa iilan lamang makapangyarihan,” he said.
The Mayor stressed that there will be no entitlement in his administration and pledged that it will continue to pursue the Summer Capital’s vision of a Livable, Inclusive and Creative Baguio by 2043.
“Sa mga patuloy na nakikipaglaban para sa isang gobyernong may malasakit at tunay na matino, ako’y kasama ninyo. Hindi namin kayo bibiguin. Hindi tayo kailanman susuko sa prinsipyo ng mabuting pamamahala. Ang popular na tawag natin dito ay Good Governance,” he said.
The Mayor promised that with strategic programs and initiatives, the city will continue to build its 7 Core agenda: Environment, Land Use and Energy; Climate and Disaster Resilience; Urban Regeneration; Empowering our Youth; Sustainable Economic Growth and Development; Smart City Management; and Good Governance.
These programs include a comprehensive Organizational Development (OD) initiative—a serious internal reform process to ensure that the city government’s structure, manpower and systems are aligned with its long-term goals; sustain the city’s Open Government Partnership Status; pursue various Private Public Partnership (PPP) projects that are in the pipeline; develop leadership potential of young people; Circular Economy Program to address the city’s garbage problem; among others.
The Mayor reminded everyone that Baguio is a Character City and is becoming a model of Good Governance in the entire country.
“We, the people of Baguio, have consistently rejected dynastic rule, proving that governance must be rooted on merit, dedication, and genuine trust. Surely, Good Governance is taking its roots.Maraming salamat muli sa tiwala. Hinding hindi namin kayo bibiguin,” he said.
