Mayor thanks residents for responsible waste management amid “Uwan”

Mayor Benjamin Magalong has expressed profuse gratitude to all residents for their cooperation in properly managing their garbage which he said greatly contributed to preventing flooding during the onslaught of super typhoon “Uwan.”

“Unlike before, we experienced no threat of flooding now because of the minimal amount of trash that were removed from the City Camp Lagoon,” the mayor noted.

He attributed this to the community’s collective effort to keep surroundings clean and dispose of waste responsibly while the city was fighting off the weather disturbance.

“If we keep this up calamity or not, it will be a clear indication of improved waste discipline across the city which has long been our dream along with attaining resiliency and sustainability,” the mayor said.

The city has been pushing for proper waste management for cleaner waterways, flood prevention and good health in its continuing campaign for a clean and orderly Baguio.

Residents were regularly encouraged to sustain this good practice and remain vigilant, especially during the rainy season, to ensure that the city remains clean, safe and resilient. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
