MALL WIDE JOB FAIR 2022

BAGUIO CITY – (October 18, 2022) – 25 partner stores of SM City Baguio are here today to offer around 200 career opportunities to our jobseekers. This is just only for a day event from 9 AM to 5 PM.

The Mall Wide Job Fair is spearheaded by Regional HR Manager Irene J. Peralta and initiated by SM Supermalls in partnership with PESO and Local Government of Baguio.

SM Assistant Mall Manager Michael Jason Peña said, “SM has always been grateful for being part of Baguio City. By being one with the community. It has been our daily mission to provide and serve the people and take good care of our customers. Indeed, we are happy to contribute to the city’s local employment thru jobs with our tenants and partner establishments. This, as we remain true to our commitment to providing employment opportunities for the community,”

“Today, as we open this Mall Wide Job Fair, we are bringing around 200 career opportunities to the constituents of Baguio City. Together at SM, we make our commitments happen and this endeavor is made possible thru our close partnership and support from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR) Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the local government of Baguio,”

“To our new mall tenant partners, thank you for opening your doors to our hopeful jobseekers. This will be a big help to them, most especially to the fresh graduates and to those who lost their previous jobs because of the pandemic.

“To our jobseekers, I wish that this day will be a lucky day for all of you. May you find your dream job with our tenant’s partners,”

The participating companies are SM Cinema, SM Supermarket, Skyranch Baguio, The SM Store, SM Appliance, ACE Hardware, Surplus, Watsons, Uniqlo, Sports Central, Our Home, Levi’s, Fully Booked, Homeworld Shopping Corp., Wearable / Non-wearable MBC Inc., Teahouse Kitchen by Chona, Coco Fresh Tea & Juice, Mary Grace Foods, Highland Brew, James Wright Café, Yayoi, Kumori, HOLA, Infinitea, and Prime Sports.

DOLE – Baguio-Benguet  OIC-Head Atty. Marina Cayabo delivered her inspirational message and shared her experience when she was looking for a job.

Atty. Cayabo said, “On behalf of our Regional Director of the (DOLE) – CAR, Nathaniel V. Lacambra, I would like to thank the effort of SM Baguio, to the job seekers, there are lots of vacancies are job opportunities, take this time to apply as many as you can, if you apply and you rejected for the first time do not lose hope, because you do not know, just go on to apply, you do not know, you do not know but your third application will be your awesome opportunity and to the employers, we have here 25 stores in SM and we have 200 job opportunities, I prayed na yun 200 job opportunities will be filled to the… will that possible? Yes, that’s possible and this Job Fair will be successful,”

Baguio City PESO – Manager Engr. Leandro M. Tabilog also thanked SM for its continued cooperation with the city government of Baguio to help the community, especially job seekers, hoping that we can help more jobseekers with the support provided by tenants, and partners at SM Baguio.

In an interview with Labor and Employment Officer III PESO Baguio Romelda Frances M. Escaño, “Una sa lahat ang conduct ng mga job fair, bunga ng Mandanas rule nai-devolve na ito sa PESO pero prior to that meron tayong mga DOLE Department Circular 113 series of 2011stating that the PESO is the supervising entity in the conduct of job fairs so, our presence here is supposed to ensure that the job fair conduct is smooth and that all of the relevant laws or policies are followed, ang mensahe ng PESO sa ating mga job seekers its time for you to wake-up, were now dealing with a revived economy.

SM has open it’s doors, please come, may job super tips please come in proper attire “huwag tayo dumating dito na naka tsinelas” please come in proper attire, and please make sure that your resume and your attachment properly photocopied, hindi dapat malabo, clear copy and make many copies so, when you come here I would like to urge you to disseminate your resume to all, ikalat niyo lahat sa mga outlets na may mga posisyon na qualified kayo at least hindi lang sa iisa, apply to all and of course make sure that your resume’s also have yun tinatawag na value added part, I would like to urge our jobseekers to prepare a customize resume nasa baba ng resume dapat may nakalagay na value added sa portion na ito talked about the other skills outside of the technical skills which you have learned in school, what can you deliver which will help an organization, you can talked about here, the values, you are committed, persevering because most of our HR managers are now looking at how the new newly hired employees can contribute to their companies aside from their technical knowledge so, make sure that you are also highlight the values we have perseverance, commitment, industriousness, and patience.

“Ang isa sa mga sinasabi ng mga HR Managers ngayon that most of our fresh graduates are called “butterflies” by HR because every time they hear of a new opening with a higher signing bonus or they hear of another company they easily transfer, nawawala na yun atin values, it’s important for our fresh graduates to realize that values will be your edge,” Escaño concluded.  #  Mario Oclaman //FNS
