Luna Terraces housing project incorporates permanent concept

The ongoing Luna Terraces socialized housing project of the city government incorporates the permanent agriculture (permaculture) to achieve its goal of establishing a sustainable and livable community.
The City Veterinary and Architecture Office (CVAO) under Dr. Silardo Bested which is at the forefront of the city’s urban agriculture and fisheries endeavors expressed appreciation of the move of the
City Planning and Development Office under Coordinator Arch. Donna Tabangin to highlight permaculture in the placemaking plan of the project “Luna Terraces: A Permaculture Community and Socialized Housing.”
“We are inspired at the same time, especially when Arch. Donna said that ‘we are ruralizing our city showcasing permaculture that will help sustain and make the community livable’,” the CVAO team said.
Tabangin said building a livable community is now the city’s direction as one of the measures to achieve Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s goal to “get rid of the inconvenient truth and irreversible urban decay.”
Tabangin said that in the site development plan of the housing project, only 40 percent will be devoted to structures while and 60 percent will be devoted to the community environs which will include food forest and edible gardens.
“It is truly a template for every socialized housing project to be built in cities. This is one of a kind,” the CVAO team enthused. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
