Literary award-giving body names former 5ID Spox on the 3rd spot

SAN MATEO, Isabela- Major Jefferson M. Somera, former spokesperson of the 5Th Infantry Division, Philippine Army based at Camp Melchor F Dela Cruz (5ID, CMFDC), Gamu, Isabela with his literary piece titled “Ti Arapaap ni Rodel” won the 3rd place during the recently concluded Salip Iti Sarita of 23rd AMMA Foundation Literary Awards.

Somera is presently detailed at 77th Infantry Battalion in Alcala, Cagayan. He was a former Executive Officer of 86th Infantry Battalion based in Jones, Isabela after he held the position as Chief of the Division of Public Affairs Office of 5ID in 2017-2019.

He also served the 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga Del Sur for 10 years before he was detailed in 5ID.

The other winners were “Silo” by Roberto B. Palope of Ar-arosip, Buli, La Paz, Abra, 1st place; “Starlight, Starbright” by Riaflor B. Rebolledo of Baguio City, 2nd place; “Maysa A Malem Idiay Stanley Park” by Sonny A. Vila of Brgy. 13, Naglicuan, Pasukin, Ilocos Norte, 4th place; “Idi Dakami” by Leonila C. Aday of Madarang, Salcedo, Ilocos Sur; 5th place.

The winners received a cash prize and a Certificate of Recognition.

“I dedicate this award to my mother, a native of Naguilian, Isabela where my family lived before we settled in Pilar, Abra” Somera said.
