Launching Spring Festival Celebration 2023

Baguio City – (January 16, 2023) – The Baguio and the Filipino – Chinese Community headed by Executive Committee and led by Chairperson Peter L. Ng  announced the launch of the 25th year of the Lunar Chinese New Year celebration and the calendar of activities.

After the performing of the lion dance which is led by the Bell Church Baguio Dragon Lion & Martial Arts Team.

Followed by opening remarks by Peter L. Ng – Chairperson, Spring Festival Execom 2023

He said, “The City Government of Baguio and the Filipino-Chinese community had once again marked together for the celebration of the Lunar Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. The celebration started in 1998 and we are now reached the 25th year of celebrating it here in Baguio,”

“We are all truly grateful to our city officials for their continued support and for making this event one of the city’s major committee activities for the goal and objective of the principal peace to promote better understanding and cooperation between the Filipino and Chinese communities in order to strengthen our historical friendship and unity.

“The city celebration of this year Spring Festival Year of the Water Rabbit will be highlighted by the great colorful parade set on January 27, 2023 (Friday).

“We invite everyone to join us in this gathering as it surely is fun we also lined up a gift-sharing activity set on January 20, (Friday) at Apugan, Loakan covered court.

“As we for the Filipino – Chinese community to share reach out and bring the Lunar Chinese New Year closer to the people, as we have emphasized in every spring Festival celebration we greatly value relationships and the celebration of this event will surely poster a closer and stronger bond between the Filipino and the Chinese communities.

“The assimilation and greeting of these two uni-culture through this celebration will definitely promote unity peace and prosperity for all of us, through these festivities, let us all join hands and hand and bring cheers to the people of Baguio.

Shall we also welcome the Year of the Rabbit with match ambition, vigor, and strength? “Kung Hei Fat Choi to everyone. We will prosper in all our undertaking,”

The Executive Committee of the Spring Festival Celebrations 2023 in Baguio are Honorary Chairperson Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, Honorary Vice Chairperson Congressman Marquez O. Go for Vice-Chairpersons are Mr. Thomas K. Kho and Mr. Fernando S. Tiong, Board of Advisers: Mr. Jose Ong Tajan, Engr. Kane Chanbonpin, Mr. Dennis Sy, Mr. Paul Go; Coordinators: Mrs. Leng Leng Cu and Mr. Roland Wong and Secretariat: Mr. Eugene Dominic A. Valbuena and Mr. Chino Chow and Mr. Mark Jefferson Ng as Master of Ceremonies.

Mayor Magalong in his Spring Festival greetings, “Truly they are all special friends, always eager to lend a helping hand a listening heart and an ever active partner to make Baguio better a proudly not a lot of people are aware but a first grew that responded during the pandemic, during the start of the pandemic are our brothers and sisters from the Filipino – Chinese community,”

“Ngayon Bagong Taon ating pagbutihin pa ang matapat na pag-aayos,

pagpapaganda at patuloy na pagbangon ng ating lungsod, kung itong nakaraang taon, the bet is use to be ngayon taon the best with now Baguio is well underway to be a leading smart, safe, sustainable and green city, these people are all provided with the basic mode.
