BAGUIO CITY – Since June this year, BCPO has already cited around 250 motorists for violating speed limits and issued over 1,000 citation tickets to drivers disregarding the King of the Road Ordinance.
To ensure public safety during persistent rains and foggy weather conditions, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), together with its partner agencies has intensified the joint enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances across the city’s major roads.
The wet and slippery road surfaces, combined with limited visibility significantly increase the risk of vehicular accidents. BCPO reminds all motorists to strictly observe traffic ordinances such as the Speed Limit, the King of the Road and the Anti-Road Obstruction. “Implementing traffic rules during inclement weather is crucial for road safety as it helps mitigate the increased risks associated with adverse conditions like rain or fog.
By adhering to traffic regulations, drivers can reduce the likelihood of accidents, improve traffic flow, and minimize the severity of potential incidents” said PCOL RUEL D TAGEL, BCPO City Director.
Through its OPLAN D.R.I.V.E. (Discipline, Respect, Infrastructure, Vigilance, and Education), the BCPO continues to build strong partnerships with the Traffic and Transportation Management Division (TTMD) and Public Order and Safety Division (POSD) of the City Government, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG). The OPLAN encourages these agencies to work together in implementing traffic ordinances and ensure that road safety efforts are well coordinated, consistent, and rooted in a shared commitment to public welfare. ###
