Inaugural International Conference and CHARTS international Journal launch slated by August 2025

Baliwag, Bulacan – the Philippine Association for the Study of Culture, History and Religion (PASCHR) along with the Dalubhasaang Politekniko ng Lungsod ng Baliwag (BTECH) in collaboration with the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) would be organizing the 1st International Conference: of CHARTS Philippines. The key activity would be the launch of the maiden issue of CHARTS International Journal, a peer reviewed open-access platform for outstanding interdisciplinary research.
The conference scheduled for August 7 to 9, “Charting the Directions and Opportunities in the Study of Culture, History, Arts, Religion, Travel and Society in the Philippines” encapsulate the ways forward after a decade long of PASCHR conference. The subthemes of the Inaugural International conference are the following: cultural representation and identity; historical development; arts and media; religious studies; travel and exploration; society and future directions.
Apart from the paper presentation, keynote address, plenary speeches, there would be workshop sessions facilitated by NRCP Division XI Humanities and PASCHR executive board open to participants. After two days of knowledge production, dissemination and exchange, a historical and cultural tour would ensue for the conference and workshop participants can immerse in historical and cultural tour courtesy of Baliwag Polytechnic College.
From the call for papers, the inaugural conference and workshop invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit abstracts for an upcoming conference-workshop dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of religion in the Philippines. This initiative fosters critical discussions on religion’s diverse expressions and practices. We invite abstract submissions utilizing perspectives from various disciplines such as culture, history, arts, religion, and travel studies.
In addition, for its maiden offering, the conference will have a workshop component with the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), as our knowledge partner. This collaborative event will bring together scholars and researchers and offer a platform for discussing theoretical and empirical perspectives, sharing research findings, and fostering interdisciplinary dialogue. The workshop aims to generate new insights and collaborative opportunities by examining various methodologies and approaches in conducting and writing research and theorizing lived experiences using the lens of Filipinology.
PASCHR is a affiliated with the International Association for the History of Religion (IAHR) and South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion (SSEASR). It aims to contribute to the formulation of the Filipino national identity through inter and trans disciplinary research and scholarship.
