Ifugao PPO celebrates International Humanitarian Law Day

The Ifugao Police Provincial Office (PPO) commemorated the International Humanitarian Law Day 2022 at the Provincial Headquarters Ground, Camp Col Joaquin P Dunuan, Poblacion North, Lagawe, Ifugao on August 12, 2022.

With the theme “Upholding IHL as we recover from the pandemic: Bayanihan to Reduce the Suffering in Armed Conflict Towards Advancing the gains of Peace and Reconciliation” the President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Ifugao Chapter, Atty. Lynda P. Bongyo-Chaguile graced the event as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Likewise, the activity coincided with the awarding of winners of the PCR Month Volleyball Women’s Tournament, commendations to the significant Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations Accomplishments (SACLEO), and Regional & Provincial Unit Performance Evaluation Rating (UPER) for the month of July.

Highlighting the event, Atty. Chaguile gave her insights about International Humanitarian Law Day.

“The International Humanitarian Law reflects more than just the law, it embodies universal values of ethical humanitarian behavior during the conduct of armed conflict, police, and military operations. This also set rules that seek for humanitarian reasons to limit the effects of armed conflict, protecting persons who are not or no longer participating in hostilities and restricting the instances, means and methods of warfare” Atty. Chaguile said.

“Even without recognition, if you respected human rights and helped other people then you are a true government officer” Atty. Chaguile added.

Executive Order No. 134, s.1999 declares August 12, 1999, and every 12th Day of August as International Humanitarian Law Day marking the adherence of the Philippines to the principles of human rights and humanitarian laws. (PROCOR-PIO)
