Golden Sandok winners known

Winners for the Golden Sandok award were honored at the Plaza Garden Hotel, Nov. 29 with evaluators from the different offices and representatives from city offices.
Congressman Marquez Go and Councilor Betty Lourdes offices’ sent representatives to award the plaques of commendation.
The Golden Sandok (Ladle) award is given to food establishments that follow cleanliness and overall sanitation, no-smoking/no selling or allowed selling of cigarettes, including compliance to PD 856 (Sanitation Code of the Philippines) and other relative ordinances.
Evaluators include the City Planning Development and Sustainability Office (CPDSO) which looks over if the establishment passed zoning requirements; the Permits and Licensing Division (PLD), for updated business permits; the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) for wastewater management including grease trap installation, the Nutrition Division – Health Services Office (HSO) and Environment Sanitation Division for meal servings aligned with the Pinggang Pinoy, the use of iodized salt and fortified cooking oil, smoking not allowed, and no beer and/or liquor served.
For Asin district, Arkeo Restaurant at San Roque Village topped the category for restaurant and hotel, while Alapu Restaurant at the same area is second place for restaurants. Mitchie Kate cafeteria along Molave Drive, Purok 3, Km. 4 Asin as an eatery is third place.
For Quezon hill, Cafeteria Coff33 Connection at Quezon Hill Proper, Yasuragi Japanese Restaurant and Patti Point eatery at upper Quezon Hill are first, second and third place respectively in their categories.
Atab district has House of Yogurt at Suello Village, Sto. Tomas Proper, a restaurant, Pasalubong Products and Inn, as first place; Kyms Eatery at Junction Balacbac, Marcos Highway, as second place and Gemmaica’s Eatery at Marcos highway corner Kitma road, Bakakeng Central as third place.
In Irisan, the Rebel bakehouse along Quirino Highway, The Hall of Plate restaurant at Purok 5; and Camp Riverside/Café Orilla coffee shop and transient house along Balenben road, are first, second, third places in their categories.
For Atok Trail district, MN Viewdeck Café in Kadaklan Village, Loakan Apugan as refreshment center; Humiding eatery along upper Atok Trail, and Kitcup Café |along Kias road are first, second and third place respectively.
In Loakan, Mama Beth’s Café in Lower Liwanag; Positivity Café along Viewdeck, Camp 7; and the Hungry Baboon Restaurant at Loakan Proper are first, second and third place respectively.
For Aurora Hill, Starway Restaurant and Mang-Coco restaurant at West Modernsite, are first and second placers, while Panahon Ko To Café at North Central Aurora Hill is third place in their category.
Hatch Café in Manzanillo Subdivision; and Baguio Holiday Coffee Shop with a bakery, coffee shop, commercial REL, grocery and pharmacy ranked first and second, respectively, in their categories, for the Quirino Hill District.
In City Camp, Quoted Café as a restaurant, apartelle, hotel along Burnham-Legarda; Chia’s restaurant at corner Lim and Del Pilar streets as restaurant and sub-lessor; and Rustic box restaurant are first, second and third place, respectively.
For Scout Barrio, Emil Rose Grill and Phantom’s Barbeque Grill ranked first and second respectively.
Amare la Cucina in Marcoville, Grumpy Joe at Upper Session road, DPS compound, and Fork and Dagger at Nevada Square, Greenwater Village; all in Engineers Hill are first, second and third place, respectively in their category.
In Campo Filipino, Rewind Café at Ferguson road, Mang Ed Bakareta House and Restaurant in Bokawkan road and Kuya Nol’z Eatery at Guisad Surong are first, second and third in their categories.
Gabe’s Oven Bakeshop, Tam-awan Village and Mikko’s Kitchenette; all in Pinsao Proper are first, second and third place, respectively in their category.
Valencia’s in Outlook Drive, Sweetmates in Gibraltar, Le Vain Bread and Coffee in Outlook Drive; all in Mines View district are first, second and third place as a restaurant, coffee shop, and Pastries Bakery.
In Pacdal, Mamita’s Café and Restaurant at St. Joseph’s Village, Ranee House of Curry in Lualhati and Ramen Sora at Navy Base, St. Joseph Village won first, second and third place respectively.
In Lucban district, H100 Eco Lodge along Magsaysay Private road, Soledad’s Honeymoon-Holyghost and But First Coffee at Holyghost Proper are first, second and third places, respectively in their category.
In the same district, Valley Bread Café at Upper Magsaysay, Café Veniz at AZCKO barangay and Vis-à-vis Lounge at the Maharlika Complex are also ranked first, second and third place in their category; while Beans Talk Bistro at Malcolm Square is first, Ginto Café, also at Malcolm Square is second, and Read and Brew Café at Porta Vaga Annex, Session road; Balai Studio Café, Overtone – Ito restaurant, both at Gov. Pack barangay are third placers in their category.
According to Environment Sanitation Head Engr. Charles Carame, being awarded a “Golden Sandok ” is an advantage over other food establishments, as it serves as confirmation of compliance to sanitation regulations.
The competition is an annual program of the local government unit, where this year’s competition is the first in a 3-year series. For the second year, 2024, the envi-sanitation team shall revalidate and choose top establishments from the 16 districts. The top 16 establishments will be re-validated and will compete against each other in a citywide level. – JGF
