Gladys showed off her skills in answering questions, platforms and 10-point agenda

Seven congressional candidates appeared at the Baguio Leaders’ Forum held at the John Hay Trade and Cultural Center Garden Wing to introduce themselves, state their platforms, and answer questions related to the country’s major problems, how they can be solved, and what recommendations can be made.
In the lineup, one voice stood out—not just in what was said but also in how it resonated. Gladys Vergara, former councilor, vice mayor, and current Chair of the Baguio Tourism Council, captivated the crowd with her heartfelt appeal and clear, grounded vision for the city.
Her sincerity, experience, and commitment to serve with a purpose resonated deeply with attendees and viewers online.

In Gladys’ speech, she said, “Trust is not built on words—it is earned through service.
“Grateful to have joined my fellow congressional candidates at the Baguio Leaders’ Forum 2025, where we were each given space to share our vision for the city we all love.
“I stood before our people not just as the daughter of Bernie Vergara, but as Gladys Vergara—a woman who has carved her path, built her advocacies, and stood firm even when it was difficult to stand alone,”
“I offer you my 10-Point Agenda, rooted in real experience and years of work on the ground. It covers everything from infrastructure and barangay development to education, tourism, healthcare, environment, good governance, and the need to once again rewrite our City Charter,”
“Being a Congressman isn’t just about writing laws—it’s about standing for the people. At the Baguio Leaders’ Forum, I was asked where I stand on key national issues—questions that require not just policy knowledge, but empathy, conviction, and a deep understanding of the people I seek to serve.

Here’s where I stand:
Civil Union – I support civil union as a way to protect legal rights and partnerships while respecting differing beliefs.
Divorce – Personally, I am not in favor of divorce. But I have listened to the painful realities of those trapped in abusive marriages. I’m open to conversations that seek balanced, compassionate solutions.
Death Penalty – I believe in strengthening our justice system instead of reintroducing the death penalty. We need laws that bite, not laws that merely threaten.
West Philippine Sea – It is rightfully ours. I will support every bill that affirms our sovereignty and protects Filipino interests.
Political Dynasty – I am against it. And it’s not just about my family—many families in Baguio have chosen not to run at the same time, even if they could. That restraint is rooted in the belief that public service is not about power—it’s about responsibility and giving people real choices.

Thank you to the organizers of the forum for this opportunity to speak with transparency and conviction. These are the conversations that matter and I’m ready to keep showing up for them. ###
