MANILA – In celebration of their 19th anniversary and Generics Awareness Month, Generika Drugstore hosted a nationwide Libreng Konsulta with partner doctors last September 17.
“There is no better way to celebrate our anniversary than to be with our customers and provide them access to free consultation services with our partner doctors across our store network today. This is our way of giving back for their support all these 19 years,” said Atty. Yet Abarca, President, and CEO of Generika Drugstore.
Libreng Konsulta is one of Generika Drugstore’s PLUS Services in its holistic approach of promoting the overall health and well-being of its customers. With stores regularly offering scheduled free medical consultations with partner doctors, Generika Drugstore customers can regularly consult a doctor, update their prescriptions, and take proactive steps in managing their health.
Apart from celebrating its founding anniversary this September, Generika Drugstore also joined the Department of Health (DOH) in celebrating Generics Awareness Month. Simultaneous with its Nationwide Libreng Konsulta, the company held an event at its store in Signal Village, Taguig City, supported by the DOH and AC Health, to reaffirm its commitment and resolve to continue to be at the forefront in educating the public about and providing them access to generics.
During the event, Abarca lauded the DOH for recognizing the need for increased public awareness of generics. “We are one with the Department’s conviction that optimizing the use of generic medicines is one way to sustain access to quality and affordable essential medicines and to reduce out-of-pocket spending, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Universal Healthcare agenda. This is core to the vision and mission of Generika Drugstore, and we stand ready to work with the DOH in this advocacy,” she said.
AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo, who referred to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s thrust to provide generic medicine to more Filipinos, emphasized the company’s commitment to improving healthcare for all Filipinos. “We share this advocacy with the President and will broaden our network of Generika stores across the country to deliver more affordable, quality generic medicines to more communities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Aleli Sudiacal, Assistant Regional Director of the DOH Center for Health Development – National Capital Region, thanked Generika Drugstore for being a valued partner of the DOH. She acknowledged how the company heeded the call and rallied behind the government in fighting the COVID19 pandemic. She also recognized one of Generika’s most significant contributions in allowing its pharmacists to be trained as vaccinators.
Fanny Abundabar, a retired teacher and a regular customer of Generika Drugstore, said she appreciates how the drugstore gives access to affordable but effective generic medicines. “Malaking tulong ang natitipid ko para may pandagdag kami sa aming araw-araw na gastusin. Kahit na mas mababa ang presyo ay hindi sinasakripisyo ang kalidad,” she added.
Generika Drugstore offers a wide range of generic medicines that can provide savings of up to 85% compared to their branded counterparts. In 2015, Ayala Corporation’s health care arm AC Health acquired a stake in Generika Drugstore as part of the group’s vision of providing quality and affordable healthcare to all Filipinos.
Currently, Generika Drugstore has a network of over 700 community drugstores nationwide that offer quality and affordable generics, helping bridge the healthcare gap in the country and promoting “Ginhawang Generika para sa lahat.”
In addition, Generika is now offering medicine delivery services via the Generika Drugstore App and through the HealthNow app, powered by AC Health’s Vigos Health and Globe Telecom’s 917Ventures. HealthNow is also consolidating with AIDE and KonsultaMD to form one super app offering end-to-end patient care. ###
