FOOD BANK FOR COMMUNITY CARE
Lions Clubs & Rotary Clubs of Baguio performed a 1st joint project in cooperation with City Government of Baguio, the so called Food Bank for Community Care, “We Join as One, We Share as One” held at the Grandstand, Melvin Jones Tuesday morning (May 18, 2021)
According to Project Chairperson Lion PRC DR. Joanne J. Balderas, “Food Bank is similar to the community pantry but the Lions and Rotary Clubs are towards service, we are both service organization so, why not work together to voluntarily help those who have lost their jobs and the situation is a worldwide global crisis because of the pandemic,”
“The International officers have been thinking of the Lions and the Rotary joining together and this is the actual activity. In a short span just a 10 days of planning, there are (9) Baguio Lions Club participated and (4) clubs of Rotary participated for this joint event,”
“These donations are coming from different clubs, we pledge a different good, Cavan of rice, fresh Daing na Bangus from Dagupan City, canned goods, noodles, eggs, bread, medicines like iron and supplementation, vegetables and face mask and face shield. Before we carried out this activity ay nakahanap na kami ng 300 beneficiaries from different barangay kaya yun mga may walk-in kanina ay pinatabi lang muna namin sila, pinauna muna namin yun mga may stub, anyway mabibigyan pa rin natin sila,”
“We are also looking into partnership not only between Lions and Rotary, we are also partnering among different clubs of Lions, we are able to achieve more if we are partnering because we can full our resources and we can come up with bigger projects,”
“To empower the Lions also be more active in community work”
Dr. Joanne Balderas represent Lions Club Past President of the Baguio Everlasting Lions Club, District Officer in the Previous Past Region Chairperson. And she was also running for Vice Governor for District
“Mensahe po namin sa mga constituents narito kami mga Lions and Rotary Clubs na hangad namin maibigay sa inyo kung ano yun mga pagkukulang sa nakikita namin ay yun ang pupunan namin sa sitwasyon na nakikita namin,” pagtatapos ni Balderas. Mario Oclaman /FNS
