First day of SIMBANG GABI, Generally Peaceful
The start of the nine days dawn masses or “Misa de Gallo” in the Cordillera Region was generally peaceful.
According to the reports submitted to the Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, there are no untoward incidents reported on December 16 as the Roman Catholic faithful flocked the churches for the yearly observance of “Misa de Gallo”.
It can be noted that, before the start of the holiday season, PBGEN LEE has directed all unit commanders to intensify their security measures through increased police visibility and conduct of frequent patrols to places of convergence.
PBGEN LEE also reminded the different police units in the Cordillera to coordinate with their respective local churches for security during different church activities.
Aside from ensuring the security of the churchgoers, PBGEN LEE also mandated the police to remind churchgoers of the minimum public health standards like proper wearing of masks and observance of physical distancing. (PROCOR-PIO)
