E-Waste collection activity a success

The Household Electronic Waste (e-waste) Collection Event held November 14-18, 2022 was able to raise a substantial amount of discarded appliances and electronic gadgets and other e-waste making the activity a success.

Asst. City Env’t and Parks Management Officer Marivic Empizo thanked residents, all barangays and partner agencies for supporting the activity.

The activity was spearheaded by the City Government of Baguio through the City Environment and Parks Management Office and General Services Office together with the Environmental Management Bureau, United Nations Industrial Development Organizations (UNIDO), GEF, Ecowaste Coalition and Zero Waste Baguio.

Pacdal barangay served as the central collection site.

The CEPMO said the event is part of the City’s initiative to improve hazardous wastes management and support the UNIDO project, “Implementation of Safe E-wastes Management.

“The project aims to raise awareness and protect human health and the environment from the harmful effects of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in e-wastes. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
