The destruction was spearheaded by PRO CAR Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR and PDEA-CAR Regional Director III DERRICK ARNOLD CARAMAT CARREON. They were joined by other members of the PRO CAR Command Group, key officers, and PDEA-CAR personnel.
As the highlight of the event, PBGEN PEREDO JR, and Dir. III CARREON, along with IAV Charlton John Carame, Chief of the Plans and Operations Division of PDEA-CAR and CHEM III Jezzila Dinglasan, Chief Chemist of the PDEA Regional Laboratory Section–CAR, held torches and simultaneously set fire to 30 tubular packs of dried marijuana leaves with stalks and fruiting tops weighing approximately 30,000 grams.
The burned dried marijuana was confiscated on June 3, 2025, following a swift response by operatives of Benguet Police Provincial Office and PDEA-CAR to reports of an abandoned vehicle in Upper Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet, which was found to contain the said suspected marijuana.
In his message, PBGEN PEREDO JR acknowledged the vital role of PDEA-CAR in advancing PRO CAR’s collective vision of building a safe and peaceful community. He emphasized the unwavering efforts of both agencies in fostering community engagement and encouraging public participation in the campaign against illegal drugs.
“As your Regional Director, I assure the people of the Cordillera that PRO CAR will not falter in its mission. Together with our stakeholders and community partners, we will sustain our anti-illegal drugs efforts guided by our shared vision of a peaceful, orderly, and drug-free Cordillera, he added.”
