Sinabi ni Lawana, “The reason why  I will be running again for vice-mayor is very simple, firstly, why I’m here today, the first day of course, because of my determination to run as vice-mayor,”

“The main reason actually is I’m from the barangay, I’ve been for barangay captain for the last 10 years and despite that, I lost the last election, I am the only losing candidate that elects that time went back to the city council in performing to the best of my ability so, I was not a sideline but rather I went back, kahit na mabigat ang puso dahil alam naman natin natalo tayo but I have to go back in performing my duty,”

“The number one concern is a barangay, we should be focus on barangay legislative action,  kasi ang barangay is the laboratory kumbaga sa scientific ay ang barangay ay laboratory ang lahat ng mga na experiments, lahat ng mga tinetesting natin is benig done by the barangay, dapat lahat ng gawin natin should be barangay base para effective itong mga legislative action, resolution at ordinances natin.”

“Ito ang lagi kong inilalaban na we have to give due priority, due respect sa mga ginagawa ng barangay officials na mga ordinansa, resolution ito ang pagbasehan natin, as I said the barangay is the laboratory kung ano yun successful sa laboratory ay yun ang I replicate natin sa buong city, it should not be the other way around na gagawa sila ng mga ordinansa resolution sa city council, general ang content and then I push through nila sa barangay which sometimes it will not fit in, it should be a bottoms up legislative action,” ani Lawana

Samantala,  Halos karamihan sa mga kandidato na may mga partido ay nakatakdang mag file ng kanilang COC sa October 8, 2021.

Ayon kay COMELEC Officer Atty. John Paul A. Martin, “Napansin natin sa motion  study sa first candidate, he consume 20 minutes because one at the holding area may mga konting  deficiencies na nagsulat pa sa kanyang COC, second issue is 5 copies lang ang binigay niya that’s why we have photocopy additional files para sa candidate na I-present sa media and all in all umabot ng 20 minutes, so this could serve as a warning and also an advance information sa ating mga candidates while the process is very smooth maayos naman yun proseso, maayos yun facility, meron possible delays na mangyari kung hindi man sa Step 1, sa Triage natin baka may mga delay doon sa kailangan pa natin punan o fill-up na mga blanks and it will be contribute delay kung saka-sakaling lahat sila ay pupunta sa last day so, there will be adjustment that will be made pero kelangan rin natin manawagan sa ating mga kandidato na if possible punta sila before the last day to avoid also delays na pwedeng ang mangyari that could be probably cause the candidacies so, kung hindi talaga maiwasan ang last day make sure na kumpleto na at walang masyadong aberya,”

“There goes our first candidate and its very smooth, it’s very convenient for the candidate and for our aspirants you may come to our filing site here at the Baguio Convention Center starting today until the 8th of October, we are open on Saturday and Sunday,” pagtatapos ni Martin.    Mario D.
