Council asks for regular sister city reports

Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 552, series of 2023, tasking the Baguio City Sister Cities Executive Committee secretariat to regularly submit post event or activity reports to the local legislature.

The august body considered the matters, issues, suggestions raised by its members during the Sept. 11, 2023, regular session relative to the activities and programs of the Sister City and Twinning Program of the Summer Capital including data on the status of sisterhood between Baguio and other cities.

The approved measure stated that the city is committed to establishing sisterhood and twinning alliances with other cities and municipalities of similar qualities for the purpose of fostering long-term mutual partnerships that assist communities gain a national and global perspective to the challenges they face.

This is done through planned cultural, educational, business/trade and humanitarian assistance exchanges as expressed in city council resolution no. 42, series of 2008 (Sisterhood and Twinning Ordinance), it added.

“Pursuant to said ordinance, it is the city’s policy to prescribe and formalize structures for the development and sustainability of its sisterhood and twinning programs,” the resolution stressed. – Gaby B. Keith
