CLFI’s ALS FinLit Caravan Empowers Learners in Calaguas Island with Digital and Financial Inclusion

Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI) continues to bring learning opportunities to even the most hard-to-reach communities through its #LahatKasama ALS FinLit Caravan. This nationwide initiative combines education, financial empowerment, and digital inclusion for out-of-school youth and adults.

The latest leg of the caravan reached Banocboc, Calaguas Island, Camarines Norte, a milestone in CLFI’s commitment to inclusive education with the opening of its 186th supported Alternative Learning System (ALS) Center.

Despite being one of the country’s most remote islands, Calaguas now enjoys access to modern learning tools and connectivity through a Starlink satellite-powered internet connection, as well as equipment such as laptops, printers, projectors, and sound systems. This enables learners to access digital education and financial literacy sessions that were previously out of reach due to geographic barriers.

As part of the National Financial Literacy Caravan, participants took part in workshops on basic money management, budgeting, and saving for the future—empowering them to make informed financial decisions. They were also introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other digital innovations, broadening their exposure to emerging technologies that are reshaping the world of work and business.

The event was attended by CLFI Executive Director Jonathan Batangan, OIC Institutional Programs Head Michael Joseph Torne, ALS Program Lead Mark Anthony Reyes, and Mark Anthony Pastor of Networld Capital Ventures Inc. (NCVI), Cebuana’s ICT arm. They were joined by representatives from Cebuana Lhuillier’s Branch Support Group and local education and government leaders, reflecting CLFI’s strong collaboration with the Department of Education, local government units, and the community in advancing alternative learning.

Through the ALS FinLit Caravan, CLFI reaffirms its mission to ensure that no Filipino learner is left behind—no matter how distant their community may be. By combining education, financial literacy, and digital inclusion, the foundation continues to open doors to a brighter and more sustainable future for Filipinos across the archipelago.

This latest initiative on Calaguas Island stands as a testament to CLFI’s commitment to empowering lives through inclusive and lifelong learning. #
