City’s command center inauguration is set for this month of September.

02 September 2021 – The city government will inaugurate its P200 million Command Center on September 10 as part of its Smart City program aimed at speeding up government action in providing quality service to the public.

This was revealed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong in his State of the City Address during the 112th Baguio Charter Day Anniversary, September 1, at the Baguio Convention Center with Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat as a guest of honor.

This year’s celebration theme is, “Moving Forward As One”.

“The city is actively searching for partners to make the Summer Capital’s Smart City objective turn into reality as it is now in talks with a foreign outfit to plan the city’s Smart Mobility Transformation,” he said.

The Baguio In My Pocket (BIMP) app continues to expand its coverage and digital services, the Mayor added.

BIMP is a collection of applications that aims to promote an e-government ecosystem of hands-free transactions, citizen data management, contact tracing and other essential services for local residents.

He said the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) provided a P840 million grant to the city government to develop a National Data Center and an ICT Academy in the city.

Magalong said building applications are now fully online with the city’s BuildPass System; civil registry records are being digitized to speed up service requests; and the city government has subjected itself to auditing through the Performance Governance System to sustain its efforts in streamlining its services and attaining quality standards to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

The city government has also qualified for a grant from the Development Academy of the Philippines for assistance to develop its Quality Management System, the Mayor said.

He said the city budgeted P45 million for its Community-Based Monitoring System in order to acquire technology-based disaggregated data for the local government’s planning, implementation and impact monitoring of programs and projects.-Gaby B. Keith
