City starts 18-day campaign to end VAW

The local government formally rolled out the lineup of activities for the 18-day campaign to end violence against women and children in the city that will run from November 25 to December 12, 2025. The 5-year running theme of the annual celebration is UNiTed for a VAW-free Philippines.

Last November 25, 2025, there was a simultaneous hanging of tarpaulins in the different government offices and private establishments related to the information and education against violence against women and children and virtual lay-for a on Republic Act (RA) 9262 and RA 11313.

There will also be a continuing uploading of publication and advocacy materials on anti VAWC and other gender-based violence with the simultaneous conduct of capacity development training for Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) investigators.

On November 29, 2025, there will be a massive distribution of information and education campaign materials on RA 9262, RA 1131, RA 7877, RA 8353, among other related laws aside from the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center – Women and Children Protection Unit programs and services.

On December 6, 2025, there will be a free pedicure, manicure and massage dubbed ‘Gandang Alaga, Gandang Serbisyo..Mommy self-love Day’ which will be held at the Lucban Integrated School.

On the same day, there will also be a self-defense techniques demonstration and practice which will be held at the city hall park.

On December 9, 2025, there will be a Forum on Understanding Gender-based Violence which will be held at the Citylight hotel which will be participated in by employees of bars and restaurants in the city.

The celebration of the 18-day campaign to end VAW in the city is geared towards strengthening the collective stand of the people that the dignity, respect and safety of women and children are substantially protected. – Dexter A. See
