City okays payment of tokens for visiting dignitaries

Mayor Benjamin Magalong signed city ordinance no. 26, series of 2023, approving the request for authority to charge the amount of P28,000 against the 2023 current appropriations of the City Administrator’s Office (CAO)  for the payment of tokens of personalized eco-bag purchased since 2020.

These tokens were given to delegation members as keepsakes of diplomatic visits particularly from domestic and international sister cities of the Summer Capital.

The city council considered a letter of City Administrator Bonifacio dela Pena dated December 28, 2022, requesting authority to charge the said amount against the 2022 budget allocation of the CAO for the payment of the tokens that was purchased since 2020 but have gone through numerous revisions since it can no longer be charged against the 2020 obligation.

The approved measure stated that the local legislature’s Committee on Appropriations, Cluster A (Budget, Appropriations and Expenditures), in its 2nd Indorsement dated March 9, 2023, recommended approval of the said request and a necessary appropriation ordinance on the matter on First Reading dispensing with the Second and Third Readings in accordance with the Local Government Code of 1991, as amended. – Gaby B.
