City mourns passing two barangay officials
Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified separate city council measures expressing the Summer Capital’s ‘deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences’ to the bereaved families of two barangay officials who passed away recently.
Resolution no. 497, series of 2023, mourned the death of John ‘Tik-Ang’ Tauli Layagan of who served as kagawad of San Vicente barangay from 2007 to 2018 and passed away on August 4, this year.
“Throughout his tenure as a public servant, he has adeptly fulfilled his responsibilities as a barangay council member and leader by contributing to the success of providing basic needs to their constituents. Layagan’s legacy and his efforts in transforming San Vicente into a sustainable and peaceful barangay will not be buried with his earthly body,” it stressed.
Meanwhile, resolution no. 498, series of 2023, laments the passing of Emmanuel M. Briones, kagawad of West Modernsite barangay from 2018 until his demise on August 1, this year.
“He exemplified dedication, commitment and passion in serving the community, particularly in his capacity as the chairman of the committee on peace and order, where he tirelessly worked to ensure the safety, security and harmony of the barangay,” it stated.
The measure added: “Briones’ unwavering efforts in maintaining peace, harmony and security within the barangay have been instrumental in fostering unity and tranquility among the constituents.” – Gaby B. Keith
