City government launches Baguio’s 113th Charter Day Anniversary

Baguio City’s charter day anniversary will be launched Monday, August 22 during the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds with the theme “113th Baguio Charter Day: Getting Ready for the Future.”

A simple program will be hosted by the City Tourism Office with opening remarks by City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio Dela Pena after the preliminary singing of the National Anthem, Cordillera Hymn and the Baguio Hymn.

Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong will be announcing the 2022 Outstanding Citizens of Baguio awardees selected and vetted by the Society of Outstanding Citizens of Baguio (SOCOB).

Candidates for the Miss Baguio 2022 will be presented and will show their talents through an opening number.

This will be followed by the presentation of 113th Baguio Charter Day anniversary activities by Engr. Aloysius Mapalo, City Tourism Officer.

A Zumba dance will be led by the University of the Cordilleras Dance Company with the Miss Baguio 2022 candidates and the program will end with the singing of the Baguio March.

Baguio became a Chartered City on September 1, 1909 originally designed as a settlement of 25,000 people but morphed as a buzzling highly urbanized city through the decades.

The city government is now gearing towards a better Baguio using smart, creative and innovative means to fulfill the dream of becoming a livable community as its end goal. – JMPS
