City congratulates victorious young swimmer
Mayor Benjamin Magalong ratified city council resolution no. 406, series of 2022, congratulating and commending Kylie Veronika Yuvienco Verzosa for winning medals in the Grand Prix Swimming Championships 2022 qualifying leg for Central and North Luzon-CAR on August 27 to 29 at the New Clark City Aquatic Center in Capas, Tarlac.
A 16-year-old Grade 12 student of the University of Baguio Science High School and the city’s lone representative to the prestigious event, she bagged a gold medal in the 100 meters freestyle competition and bronze medals in the 50 meters and 400 meters freestyle categories.
The measure states that Verzosa is adopted by the All Star Swim Club (Manila) and trained by Allan Manialung of Pines Aquatics Swim Club and Isagani Corpuz of the La Union Bullsharks.
She is the only female qualifier from the Summer Capital under the 16-18 years old category, the approved resolution discloses.
“Ms. Verzosa has proven that nothing is impossible through hard work, dedication, discipline and focus. Not only did she make her family and school proud of this achievement but to the entire City of Baguio as well. Truly, she serves as a shining example to all young athletes in the city,” the measure adds. – Gaby B. Keith
