City conducts conservation, carrying capacity workshops

The City Government spearheaded by the City Planning, Development and Sustainability Office (CPDSO) and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) conducted a Conservation Management Plan Workshop, June 24-25 , at Fortune Restaurant, aimed at preserving the Summer Capital’s rich cultural heritage.

CPDSO head Ar. Donna Tabangin said essential learnings covered built heritage identification & valuation under the National Cultural Heritage Act, Condition assessment techniques, historic structure repair & care methods, and Hands-on onsite applications.

Heritage professionals, local government officials, and cultural preservation enthusiasts came together for invaluable insights into protecting our city’s built heritage, she added.

Meanwhile, the CPDSO also held a workshop on “Integrating Urban Carrying Capacity and Circular Economy in the Basic Education Curriculum of Baguio City “.

Tabangin said educators came together to explore how they can embed sustainability concepts into their students’ learning journey by teaching the next generation about urban limits, resource cycles, and environmental responsibility.

“Baguio City continues to lead the way in sustainable education,” she stressed. – Gaby B. Keith
