City cites Muay Thai athletes in National Championships

City officials commended and congratulated the Baguio-based Muay Thai athletes who emerged victorious during the 2022 Muay Thai National Championships on November 29 to December 3, 2022 at Subic Bay gymnasium, Zambales.

In a resolution, city legislators stated it is with great pride and joy that the people and officialdom of the city confer the commendation to the Baguio-based Muay Thai athletes who proudly represented the city during the 2022 Muay Thai national championships.

Earlier, a number of Muay Thai athletes from the city actively participated in the 2022 Muay Thai national championships on November 29 to December 3, 2022 at Subic Bay gymnasium in Zambales.

Baguio delegates ranked first overall champion in the said competition winning 7 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Among the Baguio-based Muay Thai athletes who emerged victorious during the said competition include Francine Velasco – gold medalist in the junior female 16-17 years old 42-kilogram  advance category; Jerin Quiao – gold medalist in the junior male 16-17 years old 48-kilogram advance category; John Mark Kingad – gold medalist in the junior male 16-17 years old 57-kilogram advance category; Noiline Janel Enzon – gold medalist in the senior female 18-40 years old 45-kilogram advance category; Ariel Lee Lampacan – gold medalist in the senior male 18-40 years old 54-kilogram advance category; April Joy La Madrid – gold medalist in the senior female 18-40 years old 57-kilogram advance category; Islay Erika Bomogao – gold medalist in the senior female 18—40 years old 45-kilogram category and silver medalist in the Waikru under 23 years old female category; C. Finmokod – silver medalist in the junior female 14-15 years old 51-kilogram novice category; Clark Fattit – silver medalist in the junior male 14-15 years old 42-kilogram advance category; Aldrich Toralba – silver medalist in the senior male 18-40 years old 51-kilogram advance category; Shaquile Soriano – silver medalist in the senior male 18-40 years old 63.5-kilogram advance category; Neil James Calabias – bronze medalist in the junior male 14-15 years old 42-kilogram novice category; Gisselle Dangiwan – bronze medalist in the senior female 18-40 years old 54-kilogram novice category and Larstephen Canedo – bronze medalist in the junior male 15-17 years old 51-kilogram advance category.

The council stipulated that the outstanding performances of the Muay Thai athletes with the supervision of their coaches and support from their families have portrayed unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through years of training and dedication that serve as inspirations for the whole country and are worthy of emulation to the people of the nation and to the city, especially to the youth. – Dexter A.
