CBAO goes to barangays for IEC on building permit

The city government of Baguio through the City Buildings and Architecture (CBAO) started an information education campaign on building permit procedures as part of the intensified drive against illegal structures.

The CBAO started its IEC on Thursday, July 15 in barangay Camp 8 with over a hundred structure owners.

Engr. Donald Gas-ib, head of the CBAO Investigation and Demolition Division said the team will proceed to other barangays in the coming days for the grassroots IEC campaign on building permits.

The CBAO initiative is in line with the current administration’s core agenda to abate urban decay by ensuring that new building constructions comply with existing laws per the National Building Code of the Philippines as well as safeguarding the remaining forest covers of the city from further intrusions.

Recently, Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong encouraged owners of existing unpermitted large structures particularly those with three or more stories built on titled lots to start applying for building permits until June 30, 2023.

He said this is to help building owners legalize their houses, buildings or other structures pursuant to existing laws.

Failure to acquire a building permit prior to construction will be dealt with accordingly by CBAO for the immediate issuance of notice of violation.

Inquiries on building permit requirements and procedures may be directed to CBAO by calling tel. no. 442-2503 or online registration of application in the link: tinyurl.com/4jwcz2fj. – JMPS
