ABRA COPS arrested a suspect for illegal possession of a firearm in a checkpoint at ABRA

Camp Major Bado Dangwa La Trinidad Benguet- (April 26, 2021) – The Abra Police Provincial Office intensified conduct of checkpoint operations led to the arrest of a 35-year-old man along Tayum-Bucay Road in the evening of April 24 2021.

Citing the reports from Abra Police Provincial Office, the PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE identified the arrested individual as Willie Adriatico Alvaro who is a native of Gaddani, Tayum, Abra.

Accordingly, during the joint-checkpoint operation of Tayum Municipal Police Station and RMFB 15, operatives flagged down a single black motorcycle, ridden by Alvaro after seeing a visible air gun attached from the sling on his chest.

While verifying the driver’s license of Mr. Alvaro, operating personnel saw a handgrip of a short firearm as he opened his bag pack and when asked for the pertinent documents of his firearm’s he could not show any which led to the effect of his arrest.

Seized from the suspect possession was a homemade caliber 22 pistol loaded with six (6) live ammos without serial number; twelve (12) live ammos for Caliber 22 placed inside a small military pack and an Air gun with six (6) pellets.

Alvaro and seized items were brought in Tayum MPS for proper disposition and documentation. He is now facing charges for violation of Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition (R.A 10591). ###
