Love the Music: SM City Baguio Welcomes Buskers to Share Their Sound

BAGUIO CITY, April 2026 – At SM City Baguio, every visit comes with a soundtrack. By welcoming local buskers into its spaces, the mall creates moments where music, community, and everyday life come together.

Across the mall, guests are greeted by live performances from talented buskers, adding a vibrant and heartfelt rhythm to each visit. Whether it is a quick stop or a full day out, these musical encounters turn ordinary moments into something more meaningful.

Spaces like the Sky Terrace offer a perfect setting where visitors can relax, take in the view, and enjoy live music. Here, buskers and audiences connect naturally through shared songs, familiar tunes, and the simple joy of listening.

Among the familiar faces are Ms. Cita and Ruben Fontanilla, also known as the Ebony and Ivory duo, a husband-and-wife team who have been performing together since the early 1980s. Over the years, they have shared their music not only locally but also abroad, with performances in countries such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Saipan, and Dubai. Their repertoire spans a wide range of genres, including Western, country, classic old songs, bossa nova, jazz, and ballads.

After returning to Baguio City in 2020, they found a new home for their music through busking. Since 2022, they have been regularly performing at SM City Baguio, continuing to share their passion with a new generation of listeners.

Joining them is Kash, a seasoned solo performer based in Baguio who has spent over a decade honing his craft. Known for his dynamic presence along Session Road, one of the city’s most vibrant cultural hubs, he has become a familiar and respected figure in the local music scene. His repertoire spans multiple genres, allowing him to connect with diverse audiences and adapt to different performance settings.

For these artists, SM City Baguio has become more than just a venue. It is an avenue where they can continue doing what they love and connect with the community through music.

“Malaking bagay po sa amin ang mabigyan ng pagkakataon na makapag-perform dito sa SM,” shared Ms. Cita. “Kahit po may edad na kami, nabibigyan pa rin kami ng pagkakataon na maipakita ang talento namin at mapasaya ang mga tao. Dito po, pakiramdam namin may lugar pa rin kami.”

Their stories reflect a deeper purpose behind every performance. For them, music is a gift meant to be shared, bringing joy and connection to those who listen.

By opening its spaces to buskers, SM City Baguio not only supports local talent but also celebrates stories of passion, resilience, and dedication.

More than a space where people can express themselves, find their community, and create meaningful moments, one song at a time. #
