ANA ABOITIZ DELGADO ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE BANKERS’ ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES
The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) has elected UnionBank President and CEO Ana Aboitiz Delgado as its President for the 2026–2027 term, making her the first woman to lead the organization in its nearly 80‑year history. Her election comes at a pivotal time for the industry as banks navigate rapid digitalization, the growing role of artificial intelligence, and increasingly interconnected operational and geopolitical risks.
Delgado has led UnionBank as President and CEO since January 2025, following more than two decades with the institution, leading its digital transformation, consumer finance, institutional and SME banking, and customer experience design.
“As we accelerate digitalization and unlock the potential of AI, we also face a next generation of risks that extend beyond individual institutions and national borders. These risks are further compounded by the economic impact arising from geopolitical uncertainty. Together, they underscore the BAP’s role in advancing industry‑wide standards and deepening collaboration—so trust in the financial system is not only preserved, but strengthened,” Delgado said.
The BAP represents the country’s universal and commercial banks and plays a critical role in promoting financial stability, aligning industry practices, and fostering. #
