Tip-off leads to arrest of 4 suspects for illegal gambling

Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – (April 16, 2021) –  An anonymous report given to the Baguio police by a concerned citizen about an on-going illegal gambling activity led to the arrest of four persons who were caught in the act of playing cards “Pusoy” in the afternoon of April 13, 2021 at Purok 4, Santo Rosario, Baguio City.

In a report from Baguio City Police Office to PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as Orlando Asis De Vera, 52; Jerrymae Villadez, 23; Laine Poscaro, 34; and Reyzel De Vera, 30, and all residents of the place of arrest.

The report further revealed that personnel of Legarda Police Station (BCPO PS-5) responded to an anonymous tip regarding an on-going illegal gambling at the said place, which resulted in the arrest of the five suspects. Seized from them were a deck of playing cards and cash bets.

The arrested suspects were detained in the custodial facility of PS5, BCPO and a case for violation of Presidential Degree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties on illegal gambling, will be filed against them. (PROCOR RPIO)
