TESDA and LTO in Cordillera culminates two-day training for trainers and assessors on TDC and PDC

LOAKAN- (June 21, 2021) – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) CAR culminated the two-day training on Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) and Practical Driving Course (PDC) for the last batch of trainers and assessors of TESDA CAR yesterday, held at the Regional Training Center Baguio City.

The last batch was composed of twenty-one (21) trainers and assessors from TESDA Baguio-Benguet, TESDA Kalinga, TESDA Apayao, and TESDA Mt. Province. They were trained on Introduction to Driving, Road and Traffic Rules, Pre-Driving Orientation for Motorcycle and Motor vehicle, Defensive Driving and MV Maintenance, Handling Emergencies and Breakdowns, Driver’s Duties and Responsibilities, and Land Transportation-Related Special Laws.

TESDA CAR Regional Director Dante J. Navarro urged his trainers and assessors to equip themselves with the proper understanding and knowledge on the entire coverage of the Theoretical Driving course for them to effectively deliver it to their trainees.

“I’m appealing to all our trainers that when we deliver our driving course, we must show the sincerity that we want to help, that we want to ensure road safety. In short, we must show that we care. We should provide the right service, lets show genuine service to our clientele by making sure that aside from free scholarships and allowances we also provide them with quality driver’s education,” he added.

LTO CAR Assistant Regional Director Jennilyn Avelino congratulated the TESDA trainers and assessors for completing the two-day training. She also thanked TESDA for actively participating in the success of the activity.

“We should strictly implement this TDC and PDC, as our partners if we have to fail our students so that they will improve, we should do it because if we are not honest on their results these poor students will not learn and could be one of our problems on possible road accidents,” she said.

It can be recalled that the TESDA and LTO in CAR officially started the two-day training on June 5-6, 2021 with eighteen (18) participants from TESDA Benguet, TESDA Abra, and TESDA Mt. Province.

The second batch was conducted on June 12-13, 2021 with eighteen (18) participants from TESDA Benguet and TESDA Ifugao.

This makes a total of 57 TESDA trainers and assessors who completed the two-day training on TDC and PDC. These trainers have also undergone a written examination to measure their understanding on all the topics discussed during the two-day training.

After the two-day training for the TESDA trainers and assessors, under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the TESDA will incorporate the driving subjects of the LTO Theoretical and Practical Driving Course as part of the curricula of Driving NCII and III to conform with relevant guidelines. Driving on the highway to encounter different situations shall be administered as the final examination for the practical driving course.

Thus, all the learning materials provided by the LTO shall be used in addition to the Competency-based learning materials of TESDA, particularly for the module on Theoretical Driving under the Common Competency in Move and Position the Vehicle.

All learners/students must be issued the Certificate of Achievement after completing the learning session and passing the institutional assessment for the module theoretical Driving.

TESDA will also require all learners/students to secure the Student Driver’s Permit from LTO using the issued Certificate of Completion for the Theoretical Driving Module before proceeding to the practical session on Moving and Positioning the Vehicle.

The Certificate of Training for Driving NCII/NCIII is issued to the learners/students after completing all the modules and requirements of Driving NCII/NCIII training.  ###
